Checking-IN x Black History Month event

We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming Checking-IN x Black History Month event on 24th October. As we mark this important month in the calendar, we at Checking-IN aim to create space for ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) that champion race and ethnicity inclusion to connect with our network, discuss their focus areas and challenges, how we can champion inclusion for all minority identities, and to spotlight intersecting identities and allyship within LGBTQ+ spaces.

Date: Thursday 24th October

Time: 18:30

Location: Apex City of London Hotel, 1 Seething Lane, EC3N 4AX

As always we aim for this event to provide valuable perspectives and actionable steps toward creating a more inclusive hospitality sector. Our panel discussion will last around 60 minutes, and will be followed by an opportunity to connect with guests and fellow network members.

In an industry that thrives on diversity and inclusivity, understanding the role of allyship and intersecting identities is crucial for fostering a welcoming environment for all. We are pleased to welcome Gabby Austen Browne, multi-award-winning diversity and inclusion professional and founder of Diversity Alliance, to moderate this special panel discussion for Checking-IN. Gabby will be joined by some wonderful speakers from across the industry, representing a diverse array of backgrounds and experiences, who will share their insights on:

  • The intersection of LGBTQ+ and ethnic minority identity experiences within the hospitality industry

  • Priorities, challenges and opportunities for race and ethnic minority ERGs

  • Collaboration opportunities with LGBTQ+ ERGs and other ERGs

  • Personal stories of allyship and support

  • Strategies for engaging in meaningful allyship and advocacy
